How to fix Dakar Desert Rally crashes
In this article you can read about what crashes happened while I was playing the Dakar Desert Rally and the method about how I was trying to fix it.Dakar Desert Rally

Dakar Desert Rally" is a video game that brings the iconic Dakar Rally, one of the most challenging and famous off-road endurance races in the world, to the virtual realm.
Overall, its aim is to capture the spirit and challenge of the real Dakar Rally, offering players a comprehensive and authentic off-road racing experience.
There was a time when the Dakar Desert Rally was for free on Epic Games.
If you missed it you still can buy it on Epic Games.
My configuration
First of all let's take a look at my PC configuration:
- OS: Windows 11 64 bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-9300H
- Memory: 32 GB
- Direct X: 12
- Graphics: NVIDIA GForce GTX 1050
I played the game on this configuration and I can tell you my experience. Unfortunately I don't have any information about how this repair works in case of other PC configurations.
Crashes

While I was playing the game it crashed during the intro.
Then I set the graphics to the lowest level and finally I was able to finish it without any crash.
But that was only the intro.
By the way its graphics design is a really high quality product.
I started to play the races and their stages.
Similarly to the rally raid in real life, there are service parks between stages where you can repair your vehicle and make some settings on it.
By the way, regaring the vehicles, you can drive motorcycles, cars, trucks, quads and SSVs.
After I made the recommended graphics settings in my case it bacame an issue that some service parks are still not possible to use without crash.
These service parks are on the following races:
- Xtreme Rally: stage 1
- Desert Wings Rally: stage 3
- Train Odyssey Rally: stage 1
- Neom 2020: stage 4
- Al Ula 2020: stage 6
- Tabuk 2021: stage 4
- Al Ula 2021: stage 1
- Neom 2021: stage 8
My method to avoid (or at least minimize) crashes
I suggest the following:
- Verify game files (Epic Games Store or Steam)
- Run the game as an administrator.
- Reinstall DirectX.
- Force run the game in DirectX 11.
- Update the Unreal Engine.
- Update your graphics card: for Nvidia or for AMD
If it still does not help it makes sense to check these lists:
